Potato Chips Are the Enemy
Who doesn't love to munch on a bag of crunchy potato chips, followed by a big gulp of their favorite soft drink? One serving of potato chips is approximately 18 chips, and who has ever stopped at that number? Unless you buy the small bag and there are only 13 or 14 chip pieces in the whole bag. Even though potato chips have been a favorite since 1853, they started their introduction as a fried salty mess. The snack that is now the number one favorite of children and adults started out as a revenge do over.
A customer at Moon's Lakehouse, in Saratoga Springs, New York sent their order of fried potatoes back to the cook twice because they were too thick and too soft. The third order of potatoes the customer received was sliced extra thin and fried until they were extra hard and with a heaping amount of salt sprinkled on them to get back at the man for not liking the cooks' previous attempts. The hard to please customer loved the hard, salty crisps and from that day forward, the Saratoga chip was born.

Even though potato chips have a cute beginning, the are one of the worst foods you can put in your body. not only are they deep fried and a serving contain more than one third of the recommended daily amount of sodium as well as empty calories. The Salt & Vinegar variety has the highest sodium content. So.. steer clear of this deep fried snack and choose something more suitable for you.
